ALI has seen a lot of changes in 2023! In mid-February, we received a grant from the 100 Women Who Care – Chelsea Area. This allowed us to complete some much-needed and longstanding service improvements. We have purchased a new sound system and computer to improve the quality of our in-person classes, And we also have purchased a new camera to allow us to offer more classes online, to be able to reach those who cannot travel to our classroom sites. Even as I write this, we are looking at options to make even more equipment and software improvements and to offer even more hybrid (in-person plus online) classes.
And, as you know by being on this site, we have completely updated and improved the functionality of our website. In conjunction with that, we registered the name of ALI Michigan, and changed our website and email to accommodate that name change, making everything more consistent and easy to remember.
ALI Michigan also has some new innovations in the works! We soon hope to have online registration and payment through this website, making things even more convenient for our students. We are also adjusting our rates to eliminate the need for a separate registration fee each semester.
All of the changes we are making are designed to improve the quality and accessibility of our classes, as well as the whole experience that you have as a student. In order to continue these efforts and keep the class fees as affordable as possible, we are always thankful for any support you can provide, whether it is volunteering to help with an event or class, joining our Board, or a financial contribution.
ALI is committed to providing a high-quality, professional-level adult education experience for all of our students. And, so, we are asking you to include ALI in your 2023 year-end giving.
Your gift will allow us to continue to invest in a quality classroom experiences, expanded courses, and new technology to bring these resources to you – in your home or in person. It will allow us to continue to plan for the future, knowing we can make commitments to new programming.
Think about the value you receive from ALI. Knowledge gained, a new interest discovered, good discussion with friends and neighbors, new friendships made, all because you signed up for a class. CLICK HERE for donation information.
In 2004, a small group of community leaders came together to give Chelsea and the surrounding community something new – a way to join their peers in affordable, convenient lifelong learning. Help us continue that mission in this challenging time.

Steve Daut, President, ALI
